“Don’t Wait Up (for George)” Track Listing Revealed in New Press Release!

Shooter Jennings 2014

(July 9, 2014 – Nashville, TN) — Shooter Jennings proudly announces his forthcoming EP from his label BCR Los Angeles/Thirty Tigers: Don’t Wait Up (for George), a tribute to the late great George Jones releasing August 5th. The single “Don’t Wait Up (I’m Playin’ Possum)” is available now.

Moved by his friendship with Jones, Shooter decided to put out a heartfelt, yet experimental tribute in his honor. “When people ask me about who I remember hanging around as a kid, I always say that I remember Tony Joe White and George Jones being the most frequent and consistent around the house. Very few people can look at a child and sees the full grown human inside them and make them feel important. George was always this way with me, making me feel like he took me seriously, no matter what age I was.” says Jennings.

The friendship of George Jones – one that started early in Jennings’ childhood – sparked the creation of this 5-track, heavy-hearted tribute record.  “Very few people can look at a child and see the full grown human inside them and make them feel important. George was always this way with me, making me feel like he took me seriously, no matter what age I was.” Jennings says. This record serves as evidence of their serious, important bond as the title track, “Don’t Wait Up” was even initially written by Jennings for Jones’ next record, only to be unfortunately preceded by Jones’ passing.

“Honestly, I needed an excuse to write something that was very raw.  And I couldn’t do it for myself.“ Jennings admits of the tribute.

“Don’t Wait Up (I’m Playin’ Possum)” as well as the second track “Living In A Minor Key” are original Shooter Jennings tunes. Don’t Wait Up (for George), the complete EP will be available worldwide August 5th on CD, 10” white vinyl, and digital formats. The EP will also be available on Black Country Rock’s experimental digital distribution hub The BCR Bazaar, and each copy of vinyl will include an invite code for the Bazaar. Later this year, Shooter will be releasing a companion project, Countach (for Giorgio), a tribute to production pioneer Giorgio Moroder.

BCR Super Sunday on July 6th

Sometimes here at BCR Media the stress of ruling so hard in the music industry begins to take it’s toll. One way we like to relieve our stress is by shooting a bunch of fake guns at each other in our favorite online FPS, Combat Arms. We know that you have to unwind, too, which is why we are inviting all of you to join us in a marathon battle that is sure to be remembered until the end of time.

In all seriousness, Combat Arms is a free FPS that is available exclusively to the PC. On July 6th the President of BCR himself, Shooter Jennings, alongside all of the other BCR staff will host a session of gaming that will begin at 10 am and end at midnight (est). Feel free to join us at any time during those hours. If a game is already in progress you can join in unless the room is full.

Click here to download Combat Arms by Nexon

Once you’ve signed up and are logged into the game you will find the BCR game room on Free For All Server in Channel 1. The room name will be “bcrrules” and the password will be “ronj”. Here’s the most important part. If you’re able to beat anybody from BCR Media on Super Sunday you will be rewarded with free BCR vinyl and CDs as well as invite codes to the BCR Bazaar.

The Rock-afire Wall

When I was a kid one of my favorite places to go was Showbiz Pizza. My dad would take there nearly weekly, something fun we would do together or with the family. Now a lot of you may not know about Showbiz, as it was generally a south-eastern thing and it’s heyday was the 80’s and early 90’s in America. I’m sure most of you have heard of Chuck-e-Cheese, which is to Showbiz what McDonald’s Play Place is to Disneyland. Showbiz was a magical experience and everyone I knew had their birthday parties there. The reason for the magic, the metaphysical glue that held this place together was the Rock-afire Explosion.

RAE logo 800x418

The Rock-afire Explosion was an animatronic band made up of Billy Bob Brockali, Looney Bird, Duke Larue, Fatz Geronimo, Beach Bear, Mitzi Mozzarella, Rolfe DeWolfe & Earl Schmerle (and the spider, Antioch). Each week they would entertain us kids by singing and cutting up with eachother. Laugh or not, this is the first place I heard the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and many more. There’s a great documentary about The ROck-afire Explosion under the same name, but that isn’t the point here.

The Rock-afire Explosion was the brainchild of one man, Aaron Fechter. Since I saw the documentary, I went on a mission to find Aaron. I was inspired by the fact that after all these years, he retained the rights to his creation long after Chuck-E-Cheese came in and bastardized the franchise, disassembling his beautiful pieces of art and replacing them with a hack band with zero personality. Aaron had kept onto his dream, and had been spending all this time working on other inventions, doing philanthropic work and keeping the Rock-afire alive.

After enough searching, I finally found Aaron and my wife, the Colonel Jon Hensley, Mary Sparr and myself all went down to Orlando to visit Aaron and all of the Rock-afire Explosion. He took us around his magical warehouse, much like Willy Wonka’s factory, stacked to the ceiling with antique electronics, unfinished inventions, old memorabilia and of course, The Rock-afire Explosion, alive in all it’s glory. He welcomed us into his factory, and cooked us the best steak I’ve ever tasted with his experimental Hydrillium. I can’t tell you enough how all of this just made me feel like a child again. It was so inspiring that honestly I kind of changed my view of art and music and everything that day. The importance of holding on to the dream and making sure every corner of the childlike inspiration that creates your greatest aspirations had never been more important. Needless to say, being the way I am, Aaron and I became fast friends and have begun working on some other projects ourself together.

But now to important moment at hand. There’s a bully of sorts in Orlando who hides behind the “Dr. Phillips Charitable Organization”. They basically take money and build skyscrapers and get tax write-offs anywhere they can. They hate Aaron and the Rock-afire Warehouse because it’s the only piece of the block they don’t have, so as you can imagine they don’t stop at anything to try and get Rock-afire to move off their block. Well they won’t! That’s the good news. But Aaron wrote me the other day concerned about this shared wall on the top of the building. Dr. Phillips and Co, want it gone because it’s visible from I-4 and blocks their new skyscraper, but this wall has been part of this side of the skyline for a long time. He was trying to get as many people as they could to write in or call and protest the tearing down of the wall. In the video, he included that it was always a dream to paint the wall with the Rock-afire logo for all of Orlando to see as the drove across the I-4.

An idea hit me that maybe a way we could prevent the wall from being taken down by painting it, or at the very least, let my friend’s life-long dream of having the Rock-afire logo being printed on there happen. I immediately took to Twitter. I know I can rely on my friends and fans on Twitter when I really need something. So I sent out a call for someone to help who knew a graffiti artist in Orlando. My friend on the west coast @NorCalSavage immediately responded with a guy’s info named Dexos. Dexos couldn’t help me but he pointed me to a very talented young man named Sebastian. I told Aaron I’d purchase the paint if he would let this guy come down and paint the wall. (Originally I was going to be there with them but due to my crazy touring schedule I couldn’t make it down). But Sebastian came and began painting the wall.

And some more painting…

After it was all said and done, there it was, from I-4 you could see Fatz, Billy Bob and the logo. I know it was last minute and I know that they are still tearing this wall down. I want to thank everyone who helped, especially Sebastian, @NorCalSavage and Aaron for being such a dreamer. I’m including Aaron’s letter below which he has drafted for everyone, as well as his original video he sent out. If you have it in your heart to still call and let Ken here at D-Fip (The Dr. Phillips Organization), please do, let em know you want the wall to remain up. But most importantly, if you live in Orlando, Fl, go by right now and check this from the I-4!

The official post from Creative Engineering:

You may have noticed when you take a drive down I-4 that the skyline of
Orlando has changed dramatically and artistically, but for those who
haven’t seen this mural yet, you better look fast, because the City of
Orlando has given permission to the Dr. Phillips organization to tear
down the wall the mural is painted on even though the side of the wall
the mural is painted on is owned by Creative Engineering, Inc.

Back in the 80’s, Creative Engineering’s Aaron Fechter created what is
considered the world’s greatest animatronic rock group in this building
, and millions of children of the 80’s grew up with the Rock-afire, and
some of those kids such as CeeLo Green and Ryan Gosling and Adam Sandler
have paid tribute to the band in their current work. Even the country
music star known to his fans as Shooter Jennings proclaims the influence
these characters have had on him as a major musical influence, even though his
parents are Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter.

Upon hearing of the plight of this wall, which is being torn down
against Fechter’s wishes and without Fechter being allowed to argue
against its destruction, Shooter decided to make a long time dream of
Fechter come true and to pay tribute to the band that was born here and
had so much influence on his generation. Jennings spearheaded the
effort to paint this wall even if the mural would only stay up for a
day, which, it appears may be just about all the life this mural will be

It seems that nothing will save the wall, or the mural short of a
miracle, as Dr. Phillips is moving fast with the blessing of The City of
Orlando, so if you want to see it, you better drive downtown and look
east off of I-4 between Amelia and Anderson Street today.

June 3rd, Shooter Jennings is releasing TWO singles in one day!

twosinglesonedayOn June 3rd, Shooter Jennings will release two singles on one day[/caption]

BCR Los Angeles is proud to announce that it will release two digital singles in one day on June 3rd, 2014. Shooter Jennings has been hard at work on two EP’s to be released throughout 2014. One is a tribute to George Jones entitled “Don’t Wait Up (for George)” and the other is a tribute to 70’s electronic music pioneer and producer, Giorgio Moroder, which is titled “Countach (for Giorgio)”.

The two singles represent the first taste of both albums. The George single, “Don’t Wait Up (I’m Playin’ Possum)” is a Shooter Jennings original which he wrote for George’s next album, but unfortunately the greatest voice in country music passed away before cutting this final album. Moved by his friendship with Jones, Shooter decided to put out a heartfelt, yet experimental tribute in his honor. “Don’t Wait Up (for George)” the complete EP will be available worldwide in August on CD, 10″ White Vinyl and digital formats, including on our own digital distribution hub, . “Countach (for Giorgio)” will be available worldwide on CD, 10″ White Vinyl and all digital formats in November.

Shooter Jennings on You Are My Sunshine

I feel like all three of us were very excited about what happened there and it felt like it was some kind of cosmic collaboration death ray that just got pointed at the lot of us.”

Jamey Johnson, Twiggy Ramirez, Shooter Jennings “You Are My Sunshine”
The title track was featured on an episode during last season’s Sons of Anarchy. The song was originally released digitally and and skyrocketed to the Top Twenty on the iTunes charts. “You Are My Sunshine” is available for the very first time black and grey splattered on vinyl.

Waylon Jennings Right for the Time (Remembered)
Presented on translucent yellow vinyl and CD, beautifully designed by Black Country Rock design partner Keith Neltner, this recording is an analog remastering of Waylon Jennings’ 1996 Justice Records release Right For The Time. In a unique pairing, Justice records and Black Country Rock Nashville have teamed up to re-release this memorable album of the late great Waylon Jennings. Transferred from the original 1/2″ reel-to-reel tapes, remastered directly for vinyl by Pete Lyman, this pure analog version of the record really pursues the methods and morals that producer Randall Jamail was after when he first recorded it.

Jessi Colter Live from Cain’s Ballroom
Recorded September 19th, 2013 at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this live album shows that soul never fades. From the first note the first lady of Outlaw Country strikes on her grand piano to the last bombastic chord of her electric band, Jessi Colter shines, overflowing with charm and charisma, and not to mention a few very personal moments. This is the first and only live record Ms. Colter has recorded and such a rare treat wouldn’t be complete with it’s own twists and turns. Jessi is joined by her son, Shooter, on a few of the tunes such a humble performance really makes one feel lucky to be there.

Shooter Jennings The Other Live
Recorded last year, The Other Live is Shooter Jennings’ sophomore live album. This time he and his band find themselves honed, locked, and loaded and in top form. An incredible performance from top to bottom, The Other Live truly showcases Jennings’ entire career with songs spanning across his six expansive albums, as well as his growth with new songs and songs from his critically acclaimed 2010 concept album Black Ribbons.

About Black Country Rock

BCR is proud to announce 4 MORE releases to be available April 19th as part of Record Store Day 2014!

BCR Los Angeles and BCR Nashville are proud to announce our second batch of releases, to be released on April 19th as part of Record Store Day 2014

[BCR0015] Fenixon : Waylon Jennings & Shooter Jennings

Waylon Jennings has always been known for his disregard of mainstream pop music and fearlessness when it came to breaking new ground, but with “Fenixon” Waylon’s body of work will receive a brand new facet!  In 1995, Waylon and his then-sixteen-year-old-son Shooter Jennings constructed an album that blended the music and influences of the father, and the modern musical tastes and influences of his son.  Composed mostly by Shooter himself, “Fenixon” includes originals, as well as covers of some of the elder Jennings’ catalog of music, and some unexpected covers as well.  This was the only time the two collaborated together, and for the first time the album will be released in it’s entirety on beautiful white vinyl, with incredible packaging and illustrations by the great Keith Neltner. Listeners be warned: This is an Industrial type album and is not intended for older Waylon fans who may be expecting a country album.  This is the most experimental Waylon ever got in his entire career and showcases his fearlessness previously left unturned. This is a BCR Los Angeles release.

[BCR0016] Understanding and Appreciating Classical Music with Ron Jeremy : Ron Jeremy

I bet you didn’t realize that actor Ron Jeremy, well known for his work in certain “underground” films, played the harmonica and was a classical trained pianist did you?  This 7″ record finds Ron Jeremy sitting at the piano, discussing and performing classical music as well as mixing in his own sense of humor into the record.  Laced with his own sense of blue humor, this is a journey into the mind of Ron Jeremy and into the history of classical music and it’s influence on modern music.  Printed on beautiful gold vinyl with packaging designed by Keith Neltner.

[BCR0017] The Magic : Shooter Jennings & Hierophant
If you don’t know what “The Magic” is, it is the opening story in the controversial horror collection called “Thirteen”.  The single two-page story got the book banned in Italy for “opening a door that shouldn’t be opened”.  This occult spoken-word 7″ release should only be listened to when you are alone and can focus on it, as it requires much participation from the listener.  Can you make it all the way through?  Can you complete the last step?  Most people cannot.  Released on beautiful transparent vinyl with packaging designed by Keith Neltner.

[BCR0018] Windy City Redux : Wanda Jackson
Two live performances from the Queen of Rock n’ Roll captured at Lincoln Hall in Chicago back in 2011, a month after her Jack White-produced album “The Party Ain’t Over” was released.  These two songs (“Funnel of Love” and “Shakin’ All Over”) were destroyed by Shooter Jennings and feature Wanda’s full band including an elaborate horn section.  Released on beautiful white vinyl with packaging designed by Keith Neltner
